Sunday Brain Dump – 1/11/15

CEGPanel

  1. It has been a great start to 2015 at The Heights!
  2. Today I continued my message that I didn’t get through last week. We’re starting the year preaching a series on our yearly theme, “Upgrade.”
  3. I believe that this year is not the year that we wait for another blessing, but the year that we consider, steward, and maximize the blessings that He has already given to us!
  4. Since Watchnight Service, I have been preaching from “The Parable of the Talents” in Matthew 25, discussing how we can upgrade what God has given us.
  5. You can catch up on the last two messages on our website. Click here to listen!
  6. What did God bless you with in 2014? What will you do with what God has blessed you with?
  7. We have some plans for some “upgrades” at the church this year also. I’m hoping to get our first major “upgrade” started this week. Pray for us!
  8. Sorry the blog has been so quiet for so long (about a month now). I needed to get quiet for a while, listen to God and enjoy my family for the holidays. Planning to get back into the swing of things.
  9. God is opening some amazing doors in our life recently. It’s amazing to see what He is doing to “upgrade” ministry opportunities for myself and Lady LaVera.
  10. On Friday, I attended a meeting hosted by the Collective Empwerment Group where they invited a panel of influential community and civic leaders to discuss police and community relations to speak with hundreds of pastors and business leaders. The organizers thought that there should be a pastor on the panel with the NAACP President, the State’s Attorney, the Chief of Police, the Sherriff and a Circuit Court judge. Of all the influential pastors they could have chosen, they chose me! Wow!
  11. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me on social media. I’m dumbfounded that I would be listed among these great leaders. Apparently a few of you aren’t.
  12. I also had a great week attending the New Years Revival hosted by FBCG and Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church. This is a revival that I always enjoy… but it has had even greater significance in my life over the past couple of years.
  13. Every year, Bishop TD Jakes preaches on Friday night and then teaches leaders on Saturday morning. It seems like he ALWAYS speaks directly into my life. This year was no different. I’m so excited and encouraged by word he proclaimed the past couple of days.
  14. I can’t wait for #projectgideon this year!
  15. Do you know about the #HighRise prayer call? I lead a prayer call every morning at 6am where we spend 20 minutes in God’s Word and in prayer. You can join us by calling (302) 202-1110. The access code is 806007. We’re walking through the book of Colossians.
  16. Have a great week!
