  1. Happy Labor Day Weekend!!!
  2. Of course, 3-day weekends are are loved by everyone… except us pastors as we expect church attendance to be down with people traveling.
  3. Even still, it was a great day at the Heights. Our children led us in worship and we continued our series on forgiveness and reconciliation.
  4. Today’s message challenged our folks that “It’s MY responsibility to reach out and reconcile” from Genesis 33. If you have had a life-changing vertical encounter with God, then he will lead you to reconcile your horizontal relationships as well.
  5. Once again, God confirms that this series was on time for our church. Last week several people spoke to me after service about how the message was for them… Including someone who came up to me to say “Pastor, I forgive you!” That was a precious gift that every pastor needs!
  6. Today, one of my most respected members mentioned that they would take the message home and put it to work! Praise God.
  7. Audio from today’s message will be on our website in the next couple days. Click here to find it!
  8. While I was preparing for today’s message, I was blown away by this article in the New York Times on the 20th Anniversary of the Rwandan genocides. Read about the power of forgiveness from these amazing people.
  9. If these folks can forgive such horrendous acts, why can’t we forgive? #imjustsaying
  10. My grandmother passed last weekend. Yesterday I was blessed to deliver the eulogy at her home going service. Easily the hardest sermon I’ve ever had to give as I had to be grandson and Pastor at the same time.
  11. It was even harder to explain to our 3 year-old that Grandma Cookie was asleep and going to see Jesus. #toddlertheology
  12. Despite the occasion, it was great to see family that I hadn’t seen in years. Why does it take a funeral for us to get together and tell our family we love them?
  13. When I arrived at church, I learned that one of our members’ young-adult son was shot and killed on Friday. After church we went to visit and pray with her.
  14. I’m amazed at how our young men of color are losing their lives at such a rapid clip. I pray that Saving Our Sons can make some level of impact on this pivotal issue in our communities.
  15. I heard that there has been some technical difficulties for those trying to pre-order the book. The problem is fixed now. I apologize for the inconvenience. Click here to order your copy today.
  16. I’m excited to announce that our #HighRise prayer call will return Tuesday morning at 6am. Join us as we take 20 minutes to start our day the right way in God’s Word and in prayer. The phone number is (267) 507-0240 and the access code is 806007.
  17. Levi and Reuben had a great first week of school! I’m such a proud dad. I’m probably getting on the people’s nerves at school! LOL.
  18. This past week I met a division director of Redeeming Grounds Coffee. The story of the coffee farmers cutting down their cocaine fields is inspiring. I don’t drink coffee, but if I did I would drink this coffee. Check it out!
  19. After everything that took place this weekend, I’m mentally and emotionally tired. This Labor Day might be a recovery day for me.
  20. Have a great week!
