Saving Our Sons – Book Release Date!

saving our sons coverAre you heartbroken by the unrest in Ferguson, MO from the tragic death of Michael Brown? The most heartbreaking thing to me is that nearly 2 weeks later, there are still so many more questions than answers.

Michael Brown is the most recent of many tragic examples showing that the current generation of young men of color is endangered. The system is clearly set up for us to fail. The civil unrest is a cry for attention to how young men of color everywhere often feel. Rejected. Marginalized. Hunted. Mistrusted. Forgotten.

What can the faith community do to reclaim our young men? How can the church be more proactive in training our young men for life? How do we engage our young men before gangs do… or the police… or the system that is stacked against them?

I’m excited to announce the upcoming release of my first book, Saving Our Sons: Effectively Engaging Young Men of Color. It has become clear that we cannot defer the responsibility of preserving our young men to anyone else. We must be challenged and equipped to do so within the faith community!

This book is written to the millions of parents and mentors in urban communities who feel like they are losing their sons to the allure of the streets. They will pick up this resource and find practical tips to help them reclaim their teenaged/young-adult sons, reconnecting them to faith and family.

I’ve also written this book for local church leaders praying to impact the next generation of men. In this book they will find principles that are readily applied to their own ministry contexts.

Finally, this book is also written to young men of color who desire to turn their lives around. In this resource they will find someone who understands how they feel, speaks their language and will guide them to reclaim their roles as strong men of color in their communities.

Saving Our Sons is set be released on Tuesday, September 30th. Pre-orders are available now. Let’s begin answering the questions before they are asked!

The cover of the book draws attention. It is very nice. Yes, I know others who may benefit from the book. I have two young adults sons. What do you think of starting the study with the men ministry in our church?
