God’s Going to Get You!
#HighRise Recap – Malachi 3:1-7
Growing up in church, Christian school, and a Christian household, I was often taught to fear God… but in an unhealthy way. As if He were sitting in heaven waiting for me to mess up so he could rein terror down on me. The Bible teaches us a different perspective of God’s character. As God pronounces judgment on his people in Malachi, He makes clear the purpose of His judgment:
“He will be like a refiner’s fire, like a launderer’s soap.” ~Malachi 3:2b
While the process of refining gold with fire and cleaning linen are a painful process, they are for the purpose of purification and restoration rather than destruction. God’s judgment of His people is always to restore, never to destroy. Listen for God’s voice… heed God’s judgment… and find His desire to restore you back to His perfect will. God will be faithful to His commitment to us although we have been unfaithful. It’s because of His consistency that we are not destroyed but restored in love.
“I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” ~Malachi 3:6
